Meet Chris

As a child, I was captivated by my first horror movie, "The Evil Dead," which sparked in me a fascination with the darker aspects of life. Following a death in the family, this fascination evolved into a deep curiosity about death, spirituality, and the afterlife. I began to explore these themes through my art, focusing on human anatomy, skulls, and mystical creatures. My introverted and anxious nature provided the perfect backdrop for my explorations into religion and the occult.

Driven by a thirst for spiritual understanding, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, delving into various religious practices, counseling, hypnosis, lucid dreaming, meditation, and plant medicine. It was during my experiences with plant medicine ceremonies that I encountered profound spiritual insights and deep healing. However, I found myself trapped in a career that left me drained and unfulfilled, forcing me to wear a mask every day.

Following a powerful plant medicine ceremony, I made the life-altering decision to leave my job and pursue a career in counseling. A shaman once told me, "After working with sacred plants for so long, you become the medicine." These words resonated deeply with me, filling me with a desire to become a source of healing and guidance for others.

Part of this new chapter in my life involved founding the Occult Following as a platform to share my art with those who are called to it. My skull creations serve as reflections of my exploration of death, which I view as a natural part of life, despite the pain it often brings. To ease this pain, I juxtapose the skull with floral symbols of life, reminding us of the inherent beauty of nature. Additionally, these symbols serve as a reminder that sometimes we must let go of the past to make space for new beginnings.

While the skull may not resonate with everyone, it holds a powerful significance for those who connect with it. I seek to empower others through my art, guiding them through their seasons of suffering and towards a path of healing and self-discovery.
